KLM has climbed on board as an Official Partner of the organisation that is aiming to bring the World Cup to Belgium and the Netherlands in either 2018 or 2022.
The World Cup is a truly global sporting event. The Netherlands and Belgium have what it takes to organise even the tiniest details and will be demonstrating this in the years ahead. Two relatively small countries are joining forces to convince the world – and FIFA – of their readiness to make this great event a success. The World Cup offers the Netherlands and Belgium a host of opportunities to profile themselves internationally as countries that are well-versed in organisation, cooperation and communication. Together the Netherlands and Belgium can offer every conceivable type of service and accommodation.
KLM is backing The Bid, because it sees this project as important – even when or perhaps precisely because economic times are tough – to look ahead, nurture and achieve ambitions. Throughout the duration of The Bid, KLM, together with the Official Partners, will be out to convince everyone that Belgium and the Netherlands are the best choice FIFA can make in December 2010.
The World Cup could provide a tremendous boost to the sporting climate in the Netherlands. KLM feels an affinity with this major sporting event. As a trusted airline that has been flying passengers safely for almost a century to a host of destinations worldwide, KLM has proved that it possesses abundant courage and flexibility. Hallmarks like these are essential in sports. In the same way as sportspeople at the top of their game, KLM has the innate ability to weather difficulties and emerge stronger and fitter from the fray.
